Contribute to Greater Impact Writing
Welcome! We’re delighted you’re interested in contributing your work as a Guest Writer for Greater Impact Writing!
Founded and led by K. Joia Houheneka, this platform was built to help individuals with a positive, world-changing mission to spread their well-crafted messages and achieve greater impact through their writing.
We’re always looking to feature articles / stories by new writers on the following two topics:
- Improve Your Writing – strategies and stories on the craft of writing to help other writers improve their skills, mindset, and understanding of the writing process so that they can become more effective in writing to make an impact.
- Make an Impact – articles and stories meant to have a positive impact on readers, helping them to live happier, healthier, wiser, fuller, more productive and thriving lives.
Be sure to download and consult our free writing guide, A Fundamental Guide to Writing Well: 7 Steps to Make a Greater Impact with Your Writing. You will want to make sure your piece is in alignment with our standards of good writing.
In addition, please make sure to follow these guidelines when submitting your work for consideration:
1.) Length. Your final piece should be 500 – 1500 words.
2.) Originality. All pieces must be original, not published elsewhere.
3.) Formatting. Please break-up your piece into sections with subheadings and be sure to use consistent formatting throughout.
4.) Links to Sources. Please cite sources to back-up your ideas and opinions. Your piece will be stronger if you reference the research and/or studies that support your conclusions — and, of course, it’s always a good idea to acknowledge the other side of a controversial claim as well. Google Scholar is an excellent resource we recommend to find peer-reviewed research. Other good sources include links to major media outlets, reputable authorities, and/or hospital- or university-affiliated websites. If you choose to directly quote another writer, book, film, etc., be sure to use quotation marks and provide a link to the source.
5.) Make Sure the Story is Yours to Tell. We all love a great story. But Greater Impact Writing cannot accept any pieces that may violate someone else’s right to privacy. For example, if you are a doctor or medical professional, you may want to include anecdotes from your work with patients to illustrate a point. If you want to include such stories, you must be sure to change or omit any details that would make the patients identifiable to others. If you believe someone else’s impactful story would be a great fit for Greater Impact Writing — please do go ahead an encourage them to submit it themselves!
6.) Content that Violates Our Policies. Greater Impact Writing does NOT publish pieces that promote or link to any services, products, or media offerings (including podcasts, blogs, online courses, membership sites, etc.). Do not submit pieces that any third-party asks you to write, or include links to any sales offerings. (You may include one link to your own site or platform within your Author Bio, but no such links should be included in the content of your piece). In particular, any pieces that offer prescriptive medical advice and/or endorse medications or supplements will not be published. If you are writing about any party with whom you have a financial relationship, be sure to disclose that relationship. In addition, Greater Impact Writing does NOT publish content we deem to be vulgar, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate.
***Please note, we seek to publish pieces that have the potential for wide-ranging impact for human beings across the globe — pieces that appeal to narrow interests or narrow groups, such as political parties or religious organizations, are probably not appropriate for our platform.
***The editorial team of Greater Impact Writing reserves the right to decline or revoke any submission. We also reserve the right to make minor formatting or line edits as we see fit before publishing a piece on our platform.
